NEW HALF TERM FILM CLUB FOR 12-15 YEAR OLDS

For the next generation of ASPIRING FILM FANS AND MAKERS

Creative Nation are delighted to have been awarded funding to deliver a brand new BFI (British Film Institute) Film Club for Norwich in 2021.

BFI Film Clubs offer an exciting opportunity for 12-15 year olds to learn new skills, develop their creativity, and engage with the best of world cinema. They offer high-quality learning about film and wider screen media to a new generation.

This pilot programme forms an intrinsic part of the UK wide strategy to ensure equality of opportunity for young people to learn about and begin a fledgling career in the film industry.

As part of the BFI Film Club, participants can expect to;

Watch and learn to appreciate a broad range of films.
Gain insight into the exciting world of film making both behind and in front of the camera.
Get hands on experience of what goes into making a film on a practical film based project.
Meet other young film fans from across the city.
Become part of the BFI Film Club alumni and access other exclusive opportunities.
Have lots of fun exploring and making film!

We are currently looking for our first cohort of intrepid film explorers! Details of how to apply are below.

WHEN AND WHERE?

WHEN: Norfolk Summer Half Term from Saturday 29th May to Friday 4th June 2021. The club runs from 09:30 am to 03:30 pm every day.

WHERE: The Film Club will be run from the University of East Anglia (UEA) media suite. Should the situation change due to Covid restrictions, we will run the Film Club online.

The course fee is £25 but only if you can afford it! We have a bursary scheme to ensure there are no financial barriers to taking part.

HOW TO APPLY

In order to apply for any BFI Film Club course, you must:

Be aged 12–15 years old on the first day of the course.
Be a UK resident and live in Norfolk.
Have a passion or interest in film and film making.
Be able to commit to the duration of the course.

As required by the Youth Accelerator Fund, Film Clubs are currently being piloted in England in designated ‘Opportunity Areas’ and we will give priority to applications from within the Norwich Opportunity Area.
