A positive spin on 2009! Festive rates for projects which ‘wrap up’ 2009 and get 2010 off to a great start!

November 9th, 2009

Hello all

Apologies for the delay, it has been a while! Reason being, Creative Nation have been pitch-tastic; working on our new showreel  and engaged with agency and direct to brand projects which we cannot show you, because they are way too secret!!

Creative Nation is 1 year old next month- and what a year it has been!

We feel blessed to have made it to this milestone and to be enjoying it as much as we are. We would like to share our birthday with you by offering special ‘festive’ rates on the following;

A praisee of the year’s efforts

In the spirit of putting a positive spin on 2009, we can help you to  produce a short film of the work that you have conducted for your clients or for your internal use. Pat yourselves on the back and say thank you to your clients or staff for their loyalty and efforts!

A Christmas video or film message

The ‘clipart’ holly leaf no longer makes people feel special!  Some of our clients have chosen to be filmed singing carols for their clients and colleagues, or perhaps we could produce an animation for you?

Planning for a more joyful 2010

We are happy to review your existing video, film, internal and external communications resources. We can use this session to look at the kind of work that you do, and the kind of work that we can do for you! You would leave with approximate prices and timeframes for the kind of projects you regularly encounter, saving you research time and making sure that you go into next year streamlined and efficient!

Finally, we have chosen to categorise our work in our new showreel to demonstrate he scope of our work and have highlighted what we did in each clip so you know what work is ours! Go to the showreel page here, on our website!

Until next time, keep warm and cosy and we look forward to speaking to you soon!

It’s fashion dahling, but not as we know it!

        September 10th, 2009

Creative Nation were great! Professional from the outset they translated our wonderful collection of designs into an atmospheric and visually stunning video that we couldn’t be happier with!’ Jeanpierre Kalebic, Sales Director, e.g.fashion, London

We are happy to share our most recent fashion promo with you! e.g. fashion are a young, vibrant London fashion house and wanted to introduce themselves to the world during London Fashion Week 2009, but in a different way…….

Creative Nation took the project on with our usual vigour and energy, delivering the pre production creative; staffed and managed the shoot and supervised all the post production. This is a true Creative Nation production, to a budget, end to end and utilising the skills of our handpicked team of production talent. We chose to give the video the feel of a high end music promo meets catwalk show. We are really proud of it and hope you agree it effectively introduces e.g. as a label for the empowered woman!

Aside from this, we are busy hitting the pitching season and working on a stunning new show reel.We have also taken on a digital partner agency, more on that next month!

This month we also REALLY enjoyed David Byrne’s ‘Playing the Building’ at the Roundhouse and urge you to check it outline- a beautiful and magical thing! http://www.roundhouse.org.uk/whats-on/productions/playing-the-building–3268

Next stop Bestival, for some well earned space-themed adventures!

        Fashion, films and camping

        August 18th, 2009

It’s been a busy month at Creative Nation, who said August was quiet???

This week sees us in post-production of our promo for up and coming fashion label e.g fashion. We had a fabulous day shooting their beautiful clothes alongside some beautiful people and are very excited to share this with you next time!

We have also had the pleasure of contributing to Jack Bond’s film ‘Waiting for Charlotte’ which is to be screened for the first time on French Cinema channel Cinemoi this coming weekend with several scheduled repeats.

The film sees Charlotte catching up with her old friend Jack Bond (Director, Separation, 1967) on a beautiful spring day in Paris. They discuss her love of French cinema, her films including Georgy Girl, The Swimming Pool, The Damned and The Night Porter, whilst taking in the sights of Paris from the Jardin de Luxembourg to sunset over the Seine. It is a truly beautiful and intimate portrayal of one of our finest actresses.

Creative Nation provided the sparkle with the colour grading and sound mix. You can watch the trailer here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7GFzEoS2jU

We have also been creating a Brand I.D for a music events and promotions company and meeting all kinds of talented and wonderful people and companies with plenty of exciting collaborations and projects on the horizon! We are also compiling recent projects for our new showreel which we will introduce shortly.

It’s no wonder that we also needed some R&R and so decamped for 3 days to the beautiful Graig Wen B&B and campsite in Snowdonia (www.graigwen.co.uk). We spent a night under the stars in a beautiful bell tent, falling asleep to a lullaby provided by owls, waking to the hills and the Mawddach Estuary. We ate breakfast with a woodpecker and went exploring the wonderful Portmerion (backdrop for The Prisoner), part folly, part idyllic seaside town. Night 2 saw us move into the 4 star B&B, where we enjoyed the incredible views from our rooms, the luscious baths with champers in hand and the most blissful night’s sleep. If you love your outdoors with some luxury and glamour thrown in, we cannot recommend it enough!

Until next time, enjoy the sunshine!

        Summertime!?!

        July 23rd, 2009

Hello from aboard the good Ship HMS President, which is currently rocking in the torrential rain, although we have also been enjoying lovely sunny evenings on deck this month, oh, and hailstones!

        In spite of the changeable weather, since our last blog we have busy with a diverse range of clients and projects including;

        •    preparing to shoot a promo for our new friends at e.g fashion who are an up and coming fashion label,  with gorgeous clothes which are designed and made in London! We have produced the creative, crewed the project and are shooting in August… watch this space!
        •    preparing a post production team for an absolutely stunning documentary film that is heading to the Sundance Film Festival, more on this next month…..
        •    we have completed an internal communications project for Aegis Media which entailed our filming workshop and training activities, then making the content globally available online for their staff and clients, all within 48 hours!
        •    creating branding assets for a groovy bespoke events company…. And much more!

We feel the tide is turning (this may be literal, being as we are on the Thames?!?) and in our conversations with broadcasters, agencies and companies out there we are finding lots to be positive about! We have even succumbed to twitter, although not obsessively yet- find us at www.twitter.com/creativenation.

As ever, we have also been engaging in fun and games. Many of you will have already had a giggle at the promo we made with The Gents in support of and making maximum use of The Street Pianos Project. The guys were such a success that we were invited by our friends at Sing London to join in the grand finale. The pianos were literally being taken from the streets of London, and it was pouring with rain, but we had an amazing time! See the promo here…

Our favourite find this month was the eternal moonwalk project in memory of Michael Jackson. We feel this represents all that is lovely about the fact that anyone can make short films now, and that the internet enables us to share them with the world. Check it out at www.eternalmoonwalk.com and see if you can find our contribution, although they chopped the best bit off, we forgive them as it’s such a beautiful thing!
        Happy Summertime!

        Happy Friday!

        June 19th, 2009

We’ve used the people at Creative Nation before for pitch and campaign review videos, though this time, they really stepped up. They had 24 hours to shoot, edit and deliver my keynote speech to the China Advertising Forum which at the last minute, I couldn’t attend in person. The guys were totally flexible to what we wanted and also consulted to get the best result. Highly recommended.

        Hello Friends
Some more praise for our professionalism and quick turnaround! Please excuse our showing off!

Creative Nation has been busy winning friends and influencing people as we have been out and about explaining and demonstrating our unique form of production consultancy. It seems the ‘current climate’ likes our business model! We have been working closely with BSkyB to develop creative pitch materials, and have also been busy with corporate videos, pitching for promos, and forging some key alliances with other like-minded companies.

We also found some time to conduct some research with production freelancers and discovered that, although they love their work, they don’t seem to love the associated business activities (pitching, bringing other people in, getting the right contract etc)! So, we have devised the following offering to take over their admin in exchange for generous financial kickbacks!

        •    Generous commission on any project you bring to us- we will guarantee your participation in it, if you want it!
        •    We can offer you access to our network of production professionals and suppliers- great if your client requires work doing beyond your level of expertise or if you fall sick or want to take a holiday!
        •    Full administrative support including contracting, invoicing, insurance etc.
        •    We can help you pitch, schedule work, put a team together.
        •    We can be as involved as you wish, visible or invisible

We have Creative Nation business cards for anyone interested in working more closely with us- so give us a shout!

Amidst all this excitement, we have also found time to smile and chuckle! Find a few surreal minutes to watch this- we love it! Stick with it, it gets better and stranger by the minute! (Thanks to Annie, en France!).

Welcome to the Creative Nation blog!

        May 12th, 2009

Our intention for this blog is to collect things that we love and that inspire and entertain us, we would then like to share these things with you, alongside news of what we are up to. We aim to be in touch just once a month, so as to entertain rather than bombard you (-:

Since its inception last Christmas, Creative Nation has been very busy! The moment we started to tell people what we wanted to do, everyone wanted to open their borders to us!

Work has come in consistently, alongside us sorting out the following, with our wonderful talented team!

        •    branding and stationary -thank you Loz and Paul!

        •    technology -thank you Timmy!

        •    hopping aboard our incredible office -thank you for having us Denise!

        •    working on our beautiful website -thank you Fiona Bird and Andy!

        •    creating our showreel –thank you all contributors and Martin, Tony, Dom and Pause at Audiofruit!

And here’s what our first clients as Creative Nation had to say about us!

‘The 3D content that they created using animation, HD film and post production was simply amazing! We were all a bit nervous and not sure that they would pull it off in time as we gave them only 2 weeks notice, but talking to my colleagues at Coca Cola after the event, we believe that you have helped us to deliver the most entertaining and dynamic sales conference ever! So, what are you going to do for us next year?’

        Michal Blasko
        Marketing Manager
        Coca Cola Czech & Slovak
(Coca Cola Sales Conference, Prague, Czech Republic. 30th January 2009).

For a peek at our work and the work of our wonderful talent, explore our website and take a look at our showreel.

Until the next time, we would love to hear from any talented freelance creatives who would like to come on board, and any companies who employ people like us and would like to explore how we can make their lives easier, and make their creative output sparkle!
